About the NC Division

Who are we?

The North Carolina Division (NCD) is part of the Southeast District of the International Association of Administrative Professionals®. There are 600 plus members in the Division, with 18 chapters and 5 student chapters throughout the state. Our membership is composed of administrative professionals, office managers, clerical support staff, business educators, students, and representatives from a wide range of businesses.

The NCD purpose reflects the purpose of IAAP, which is to provide information, education, and training, and to set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective.

To support that purpose, we host two conferences annually. Each conference provides seminars and training on topics relevant to today’s administrative professionals and offers the participants opportunities to develop and establish channels of communication with business leaders, vendors, educators, and other administrative professionals.

IAAP is the administrator of the only certification program for office professionals. The Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) rating is recognized and accept throughout the world. A new component, the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP®), has been added to the certification process. Both levels may be achieved by sitting for and passing the exams administered by IAAP’s Institute for Certification. For more information, contact certification@iaap-hq.org.

Members of the North Carolina Division enjoy a variety of benefits designed to supplement the benefits offered by IAAP. Division members enjoy reduced rates at division-sponsored conferences, The Tar Heel News (quarterly newsletter), and access to the Members section of this website. To join the NCD or to obtain additional information, contact the North Carolina Division Membership Director.

We recognize that students are the future of this profession and this association. Chapters, throughout the Division, support and encourage student chapters and offer reduced membership rates for students joining regular chapters. To learn more about the student program, email the North Carolina Division Membership Director.
